Childsmile is a national programme designed to improve the oral health of children in Scotland and reduce inequalities both in health and access to dental services.
The programme consists of three parts:
• Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme – the distribution of free dental packs and supervised brushing in all nurseries and in primaries 1 and 2, with brushing up to P7 in smaller schools.
• Childsmile Fluoride Varnish Programme – provide clinical prevention programmes offering twice-yearly fluoride varnishing by the Public Dental Service.
• Childsmile Community and Practice - provides an accessible, child centred NHS dental service through the Public Dental Service and Independent General Dental Practices.
We deliver home visits to parents and children which can be arranged outside our working hours.
